It is easy to get distracted by the goal itself when it comes closer to us.
Think about the top tennis players winning a grand slam after two weeks of competition. When it’s only one game to conquer before winning the championship?
When your goal is far away, it’s never too hard to focus on the smaller steps you need to take to get ahead. But when it comes closer, your mind is challenged to keep focus.

It takes hard work to get ahead and it takes discipline to cross the finish line. You want to keep focused until you are there.
So, what can you do the stay sharp in your mind, motivated with your body?
Goal setting can definitely help you
You want to celebrate the moment you get the list with your name in the right league. The best thing you can do is to feed your mind with the dopamine this moment does to your brain cells.
Goal setting, in the NLP way, does exactly that. Here are the steps.
1. Think about the time you will have already reached your goal
See what you’ll see, hear what you’ll hear, smell what you’ll smell, taste what you’ll taste, and feel what you’ll feel. Use all your senses. Close your eyes and in your mind, go there.
Enjoy the moment, celebrate. Let the feeling infuse your body.
2. When you celebrated enough, look back and take a look at the road
Ask yourself what you did to get there. What were the steps you took? Be specific. See how your days went by. What did you do when you woke up? Who did you talk to? Where did you go? How did you learn? What did you learn? What were the skills you developed?
3. Make a list of the things you did to reach the goal
It’s best to use a dictaphone or sound recorder. Your phone comes handy, because you closed your eyes performing step 2. Then, you write down all the ideas you made note of in the previous step.
4. Make the list your roadmap
Rewrite the list to get action steps that you are able to take. It is crucial that you deal with stuff you can control. Don’t write anything that is out of your control, it makes no sense to wish someone change. It’s not your business.
5. Notice how you feel
When you have all your todos listed on a piece of paper take a moment to notice how you feel about your goal now. Notice how confident you are now about reaching your goal.
Now you have a plan. Exact things you want to focus on!
You know what to do exactly to get closer to your goal every day.
